Tegan McKenzie, like many natural born dancers, started at the age of 3. In high school, Tegan began rigorously training in dance and encompassing multiple dance forms including Modern, Ballet, Jazz, and Hip-Hop. During that time, she also worked as a Physical Therapy Aide, deepening her understanding of anatomy and physiology. Later, Tegan McKenzie began studying Dance and Pilates at Wayne State University in 2004. Thereafter, she was accepted into a 3 year intensive program at the Alvin Ailey School in New York City where she received a Professional Certificate of Dance. She toured with the Ailey Student Company in New York City, working with prominent choreographers, teachers, and dancers; such as: Hope Boykin, Camille A. Brown, Milton Myers, Earl Mosley, Christopher Wynn, Finis Jhung, Kazako Hirabyashi, and many others. Since coming back to Tucson, Tegan has done guest performances and choreographed for local studios; including roles Snow Queen, Marzipan, Dew Drop, Spanish, and original choreography for Ballet, Jazz, Hip-hop, and Modern pieces. In class, Tegan combines her knowledge of the body, hands on techniques, and extensive dance training to bring out the best of her students. Many of our students enjoy Tegan’s classes for her originality and ability to push our clients to their physical edge.
